When the Journey Gets Exhausting

We talk about consistency a lot in the social media and entrepreneurship space. We emphasize the importance of "showing up" even when you don’t feel like it, and being intentional about creating content even when we aren’t inspired. These practices are important to lean into, because we cannot always allow our emotions to dictate our actions. We have to be real with ourselves, and realize that we won’t always feel motivated or passionate, but if we are disciplined and remember why we started this journey in the first place, we will continue to work hard in spite of slower progress.

However, being consistent without seeing results can be exhausting.

I recently pitched a digital show idea to a role model of mine. For three months I worked hard researching the ins and outs of pitching a show to a producer, and even invested in a coach to help me hone in on my ideas.

Well, my role model said yes. Not only did she love the idea, but she wants to expand on the show and eventually pilot it for television. When she said yes however, I was floored. I had been turned down by so many people that I forgot what it was like to hear a yes, and after she said yes I didn’t email her for two weeks because I was exhausted by the journey. I was exhausted from the racist producers that I had worked with in the past, exhausted from getting my hopes up for an opportunity just to be told no, and exhausted from seeing people live out a dream that I had been working towards for years, but now it’s time for my dreams to come true and I refuse to fall asleep during one of the best parts!

I hope that as you are consistently growing and building your business, that you don’t forget to celebrate yourself when you do get that yes from a prospective client, or sell out a new course that you launched. I hope that you don’t minimize your success or sell yourself short because you worked so hard to be where you are today, and more importantly, you worked so hard to be the woman that you are today. Only you know the pain that you endured to get here, but sister, I’m here to tell you that the pain doesn’t last forever. This is a big moment for you friend, don’t let it pass you by.

How are you celebrating your accomplishments this month babe? We would love to hear from you!

With love,
Alisa
